ABOUT US

Gordon Edgar is a native Cumbrian having lived and worked most of his life in the County. He is a fully trained chef and has worked for some well respected organisations in Cumbria. He is particularly skilled at bread making, pastry and cakes holding awards for cake design and decoration and sweet making.

It has been Gordon's life long ambition to run his own restaurant. 

Assisting Gordon in the kitchen is Assistant Chef, June Byerley. June has spent many years in the trade having previously run her own hotel and worked for many years for the Shepherds Inn at Melmerby.

Also in the kitchen you may find Sylvia who has worked for Brief Encounter since it opened, Dorothy, Dan and Daniel.

Front of house is looked after by Sheila Orchard now in her third year at Brief Encounter. Sheila has extensive experience having worked for many years at the Shepherds Inn at Melmerby and prior to that being involved for many years in Corporate hospitality. 

Assisting Sheila are Janet, Stephanie, Becky, Katie, Rosie and Maria

Keeping the restaurant in pristine condition is Elsie Gordon's wife.
